These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of DevSignal ("Service"), operated by DevSignal ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using DevSignal, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age, have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
DevSignal is a development activity reporting service that:
- Connects to your GitHub, Linear, and Slack accounts via OAuth (read-only)
- Analyzes activity metadata (pull requests, code reviews, issues, ticket transitions, channel threads)
- Uses AI to generate signals and structured reports for sprint reviews, 1:1 prep, and stakeholder updates
- Stores generated signals, briefs, and per-team context in your secure workspace
The Service does not access, read, store, or analyze your actual source code or message bodies beyond what is required to produce a signal.
3. Account Registration
To use DevSignal, you must:
- Authenticate with a valid GitHub account
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights
- Generate signals or reports on individuals without appropriate authorization or legitimate business purpose
- Attempt to access data belonging to other users or workspaces
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use automated scripts or bots to access the Service beyond normal usage
- Circumvent any usage limits, token quotas, or access controls
- Use the Service for employee surveillance or punitive performance management
- Redistribute, resell, or sublicense the Service without written permission
5. Connected Tool Data and Permissions
By connecting your GitHub, Linear, or Slack account, you authorize DevSignal to:
- Access your profile information from each provider (username, email, organization or workspace memberships)
- Read activity metadata from repositories, issues, and channels you have access to (pull requests, commits, reviews, issues, ticket transitions, threads)
- Read organization or workspace membership information
DevSignal requests read-only access to each connected tool. We cannot modify your repositories, create pull requests, edit issues, or post messages on your behalf. You can revoke access at any time through the connected provider's settings or from your DevSignal Settings page.
6. Usage Limits and Token Quotas
The Service operates on a token-based usage model:
- Each generated signal or brief consumes tokens based on the volume of activity analyzed
- Your account has a token quota that varies by plan
- Token quotas may reset on a monthly basis depending on your plan
- We reserve the right to modify token quotas and pricing with reasonable notice
7. Early Access Program
During the early access period:
- The Service is provided free of charge with limited token quotas
- Features, availability, and quotas may change without notice
- The number of concurrent early access accounts is limited
- We may transition to paid plans with reasonable notice to existing users
- Early access users may receive priority access to paid features

8.2 Your Data
You retain all rights to your activity data and the content of your generated signals and briefs. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your activity metadata solely for the purpose of producing those signals and briefs.
8.3 Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, modify, and incorporate that feedback into the Service without obligation to you.

14. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
